Lens Index

Lens index tells you how thick the lenses are according to the strength of your eye prescription. To help you understand more, just remember these general rules:

  1. The higher the index number is = the thinner the lenses are
  2. The more complicated the prescription is = the thicker and heavier lenses
  3. The higher the prescription is = the more it requires higher index lenses for a lighter, comfortable, and more efficient lenses
  4. High-index lenses generally costs more than lower indexed or regular lenses because of the high quality materials used, to make these it thinner, lighter, more efficient, and distortion free.

Though most prescriptions work with one or more lens indexes, finding the correct lens index for your specific prescription is as important as the comfort you want in your eyeglasses. Incorrect lens indexes may cause discomfort, strain and damage your eyesight.

Angel Fire Optical offers four different lens indexes, giving you the best range of lens index options for you to find your index for prescription needs.
